The Midwest Fencing Conference (MFC) is a collegiate club fencing conference that encompasses 21 member institutions largely from the Midwest. Our general purpose is to promote, facilitate, and grow collegiate club fencing in the Midwest.
Our championship event, the Midwest Fencing Championships, has existed in some shape or form since 1968, though the nature (and name) of our championships has gone through significant changes through the years. In 2020, the MFC member institutions that compete in the NCAA split off from the rest of the conference to form the Central Collegiate Fencing Conference. The remaining club institutions retain the conference and championship names.
Despite challenges such as the CCFC split and the COVID-19 Pandemic, the MFC continues to grow and thrive. At the advent of this season, the MFC welcomed the addition of three new member institutions from Augustana College, the University of Illinois-Chicago, UW-Whitewater, and Marquette University (Marquette Fencing Club and UW-Whitewater Fencing Club combined to form a singular competitive member institution). Especially after USA's historic performance at the 2024 Olympic Games, we are anticipating Midwest collegiate fencing to flourish.

In order to better promote the sport of fencing among collegiate club teams, the Midwest Fencing Conference serves to organize, regulate, and promote collegiate fencing competition in the Midwest. Our core values are sportsmanship, mutual respect, inclusivity and equity. We stand for fencers of all backgrounds and their ability to participate and compete within the Midwest Fencing Conference. Our mission is to provide quality opportunities for fencing development, education, and competition for all students at member institutions.
